Updated Net Bag Kit (bone)
Everything you need to get started with netmaking, and with expanded instructions to cover both flat netting and bags as well as a brief overview of nets from the earliest evidence onwards.
Netting is probably one of the earliest textile skills, with evidence of its use going back into early prehistory. A net bag is genuinely appropriate for all time periods from the Palaeolithic through to the current century, and net making is a skill well worth learning.
Choose from beautifully made bone (this listing) or beechwood shuttles and gauge sticks, both designed to work for the widest possible range of time periods. Also included is enough pure linen string to make two net bags of the size shown.
The instructions are also supported by videos on Sally’s YouTube channel. Presented in a strong kraft paper bag, this makes an ideal gift.
