Burgundian Cap (to order)

£69.99

Based on illustrations of 15th Century caps, these distinctively shaped variants on an acorn cap feature pure Shetland wool, fine gauge knitting with a small stalk at the top, a double layer construction, a heavily fulled surface with a well brushed nap, and the characteristic angled edge at the ear. Blocked to preserve the slight crease line often seen in portrait depictions of these caps which suggests they are shaped over flat boards and stored pressed flat.

Worn high on the head, these should sit about 5 cm above the eyebrows. Made to order in your choice of shades, shown here are Red (taller) Scarlet (shorter) and Undyed Grey (tall) but many other yarn shades are available.

Let me know your head size, and whether you’d like tall, short or somewhere in between. As with all my made to order caps, please allow me up to three months to make this for you, though I’m often much faster.
