Shape and proportions based on an extant late 18thc mitten, also not vastly different from those recovered from the "General Carlton of Whitby", and offered in a moderately fulled pure wool with a choice of two thumb construction methods so that you can tailor your mitten to suit your own tastes and references.

Choose from a thumb based on a sock 'common heel' construction, which creates a slight gusset for extra thumb space at the base (red example) or a straight thumb without extra gusset room (gold example). Typical length about 12"/30cm from point to wrist.

Popular colours are shown, but I can make these in almost any shade. Sized for an average large adult hand, if you'd like yours fulling to a specific hand measurement please wrap a tape measure around the widest part of your hand just below the fingers and let me know the size, and I'll make accordingly.

As with all our made to order items, please allow a few weeks for your mittens to be knitted and finished. The way our order book is currently working, we open the shop approximately once a month for new commissions and shut it again once we have as many orders as we think we can realistically make over the next 8 weeks. Please be aware that your order may fall anywhere into that timescale. We'll always aim to be as prompt as we can.
