A big, mild, creamy white bar soap made using a traditional soap boiling process from pure olive oil. Castile soap has been in use since the Medieval period and was traded by pedlars through most parts of Europe. No fragrance, no preservatives, no animal fats, no fuss.

Castile soap produces small bubbles and is a favourite with those who find palm oil based soaps too drying but still require a bar that cleans thoroughly.Castile soap ages well, becoming harder with time, but it does need draining well after use and protecting from extreme atmospheric humidity in storage (it has a lot of natural glycerine and tends to slurp up the damp, just wrap it in a cloth or paper for troublefree storage if you are going to keep it for a while before use) .Our Roughcut slabs are our most historically accurate for living history use or the most economical way to buy Castile for rebatching into washballs or for use as laundry soap. Made to order. The way our order book is currently working, we open the shop approximately once a month for new commissions and shut it again once we have as many orders as we think we can realistically make over the next 4-6 weeks. Please be aware that your order may fall anywhere into that timescale. We'll always aim to be as prompt as we can.

  • Sent cellophane wrapped to keep the soap soft for grating. A good choice for bulk educational use. We cut slices aiming for a minimum weight of 215g (but multiple bar orders may come in a mix of sizes to make up the overall total weight requested- bars in any given batch can easily range from 200-260g, in a tight pinch we may also send a top up smaller bar with a larger one if a batch has cut oddly and the sizes aren't behaving)

    Ingredients: Sodium olivate, aqua
