Make a Regency Bonnet
Starting with a cheap off the shelf straw hat, you can make a convincing looking Regency style bonnet in a
very short amount of time.

This is a basic seagrass sunhat, I sliced off a bit after stabilising the new edge with a line of sewing:
Next, I used some leftover muslin from making my smock to cut a circle a bit
larger than the crown, and a wide strip (bit hard to see on a white table, sorry!):
Sewing the wide strip to the edge of the hat, then turning it under
creates a simple lining for the brim, which I then gathered and
stitched down using a simple stab stitch:
I folded the raw ends under and stitched those down too to create a neat edge to the brim. The next stage was to
gather the circle into something scarily like a mob cap:
I am happy to accept  commissions, I specialise in hats and enjoy creating something really unusual. Please feel
free to
contact me if you would like to discuss a potential project.

I often have a number of hats of various styles in stock, some will be found in my
online shop
I also make knitted silk stockings and pure silk knitted reticules suitable for regency costuming

Stitching this down over the crown gives the basically complete hat.

Trimming next, its shown here with a temporary ribbon- I havent quite
decided yet what shade I want, but am leaning currently towards apple
green with yellow rosettes, or perhaps artificial flowers. For the moment
though, voila!
