Commission a Pointy Hat!
We are happy to accept commissions for pointy hats (or variations on the theme!) Please read the
guidelines and broad pricing structure below then submit an enquiry form and we can firm up the details
General Information:
All of our hats are one -offs, made individually. They are very time consuming to make and it can take us a
while to fit them in. Typically, expect to wait about a month for us to be able to start work on your hat.

We can offer four main types of pointy hat:

Gandalf Hat: This is a cut-and -sewn hat with a shape inspired by that worn by Gandalf in the recent Lord
of the Rings film. Actual fabrics vary with availability, and you'll need to give us time to source an
appropriate cloth for you. Typically, this hat costs £45.00 plus postage unless you want a really unusual
fabric. We try not to use craft felt, its too thin, and its sometimes hard to get suitable cloth so making time
varies on these. We line these hats with a natural fibre such as linen or cotton for comfortable wear.

Lightweight Felt Pointy Hat: Ideal for small sized hats or for occasional wear, these are hand felted but
we often use pre-felt to start with. This is still real 100% wool felt, worked by hand but we can buy the fibre
in ready laid out sheets which saves us an hour or two of work which is reflected in the price.  Typical price
£35-£45 plus postage, you can request different colours inside and outside the hat with this. Trimmed with
a simple removable wool hatband.

Standard Felt Pointy Hat: 100% wool in pretty much any colour you can imagine, this is a hat intended
for regular wear. Most of our hats are in this range and we are happy to make them with variable colours,
an internal pocket or two and a brim that is stiff or floppy to suit your tastes. These hats stand up well to
daily wear, being partied in, occasionally being rained on or sat on and they are easy to reshape. Typical
price £55 plus postage

A plain hatband is included in the price (ideal if you want to make your own band later), or you can add a
fancy band, for example a hand of hand spun wool with hand felted leaves and flowers or festoons of
cherries for and extra £10

Heavy Duty Pointy Hat: Extra thick, extra warm and able to take being regularly rained on (it may go a
bit 'flop' if you insist on wearing it in truly awful weather but we promise its very easy to reshape overnight
and about as easy to dry out as your hiking boots! We often make these in heavier fleece types so they
lend themselves well to natural shades, though we can also do them in the same dyed wool that the
standard hat comes in. With an internal sweatband and a plain hatband (though see above for fancy
hands), typical price £65 plus postage

A note on postage. As you might imagine, Pointy Hats are rather large to post, almost all will come to
you cunningly rolled around themselves. Most hats pop back into shape with minimal effort but please
expect to have to follow our simple instructions for perfecting the shape of your hat on arrival. Usually this is
no harder than waving the hat over the steam of a boiling kettle and patting it into shape. We keep postage
costs as low as possible, usually they are about £5 to post depending on location and we strongly suggest
signed for delivery options. We are in the UK, overseas postage may be a bit more.
